The Springer Handbook of Archaeoastronomy and Ethnoastronomy is aimed at academic readers and researchers regardless of their disciplinary expertise, but is also accessible to students and serious general readers. It provides a definitive picture of the state of art of research in this field, and is a reliable and wide-ranging source regarding theory, method, interpretation, and best practice.

Ancient Astronomy: an Encyclopaedia of Cosmologies and Myth
is intended for a wider general readership. With over 200 entries it includes a broad selection of case studies worldwide, critical assessments of a range of facts and theories, and jargon-free explanations of basic concepts.

Archival course materials

These archival resources are held on a back-up server at Leicester University and are non-editable. They are provided here for information purposes only, with due apologies for obsolete information and broken links. I have no intention of removing them in the foreseeable future, but if the University withdraws the server in question I will attempt to reduplicate them elsewhere.

An undergraduate-level learning resource: course materials from the AR3015 Introduction to Archaeoastronomy course that ran at Leicester until 2003.

A transcript of the above course materials (text part only), available as a downloadable PDF. My thanks to Richard Bartosz for putting this together.

Archaeoastronomy
